Bruce Almberg studied fine arts at Southampton College, University of Urbino, Italy and New York University, graduating with a BS degree in fine arts and education. He went on to study at the Art Students League in New York, where he became an assistant instructor in life drawing for Thomas Fogarty and received numerous merit scholarships, a Nessa Cohen Grant and a Charles H. Revson Grant. His passion for photography dates back to an inspirational high school photography and cinematography teacher, and it was his primary reason for pursuing a career in art. Photography has been a constant thread running through his life as an artist, mainly as a tool for capturing elementscomposition, texture, form, line, colorfor painting and sculpture. Recently, he returned his attention to the art of photography, the intricacies of lighting, portraiture, and photography as a means of not only documenting but capturing the essence of the underground creative scene in south Florida, from drum circles, fire spinners and belly dancers, to burning man events.
